Welcome to U.S. History!IntroductionMs. Hope Brown I am new to Cooper High School but not new to teaching. This will make my 11th year teaching U.S. History. I taught the last 10 years at Rowan County Senior High in Morehead, KY. I am looking forward to working with my new students and their parents at Cooper. Along with teaching regular U.S. History and A.P. U.S. History (APUSH), I will also be co-coaching the Academic Team. I am very competitive and cannot wait to build on the academic team base that is already established at Cooper. I am actively recuriting members for the team so if you are interested please let me know.
Course Description:Junior-level U.S. history includes Colonization through the present. We will do a basic review on Colonization through the Civil War and focus heavily on Reconstruction through the present. In our study of the history of the U.S. you will learn the skills and stragegies historians use. These skills can then be transferred into other academic areas and then into the "real world." It is important for you to become an active learner, engaging in every activity. History helps you understand the present and make sense of the past. |
